I see the world around me as an interaction of shapes, patterns, and values that enter my eyes as naturally and ceaselessly as air fills my lungs. The shapes and patterns are created from the reflective surfaces of objects and appear as disassembled light and dark values floating free from their physical confines.

Photography has allowed me to reassemble and give form to the myriad shapes, patterns, and values. It has heightened my awareness of how I see the world and pushed me to discover compelling new visual relationships in the subject matter before my camera. I see a world in which water can look solid and a rock fluid.

My career has been varied but always directed by the desire to create images. I have worked as a freelance photographer for history museums, natural history museums, and cultural agencies; as a video cameraperson , director of photography, and producer; and, since first picking up a camera, as an artist. I have worked on numerous portfolios over the years--some completed over periods of months or years and others life-long undertakings. The photographs presented here are a selection from both my personal and professional photography.
