The diptych and triptych photographs evolved as I tried to further manipulate the perspective and space within my images. My first attempts to combine traditional photographs were unsuccessful because differences in value and small objects along the adjoining borders detracted from the illusion of an overall composition. Digital editing and printing allowed me to control those differences. I could successfully combine images, often photographed moments apart in the same scene, to create entirely new landscapes that do not literally exist. The scenes before my camera now have an added dimension that cannot be seen from a single perspective or moment in time.
